This year we were traveling a bit. While in Amsterdam, we hosted a rooftop BBQ with friends and family to keep the spirit alive but didn't have a couch or enough seats to make things comfortable for everyone.
In comes, the Slash/Bed, the coziest place to lay back and look up into the skies. Enjoy the fireworks! Check out some of the pictures below for some outdoor inspiration.
"This is who we are and we wanted to incorporate our DNA into the brand."
This is the story of a passionate creator named Morgan Collett who wanted to start a brand that was open to everyone.
With an upbringing in Newport Beach was heavily influenced by surf culture, he set out on a mission to bring together the best elements of surf, culture, fashion, and style into a brand that could connect with people.
Most importantly, he's a caring father who has an inspiring vision to provide his family with the best life possible and share as many moments as possible with them. Watch the video, learn about Morgan's inspiring story, and if you're ever in New York City make sure to stop by Saturday's.
The Truck Surf Hotel is hard to pin down. It is both a luxury hotel on wheels and a traveling hostel; both a Mercedes Actros and an expandable box van. It answers questions you may never have thought to ask but will now never be able to ignore, such as: what if I want to travel by camper van but can’t afford to buy one? What if I cannot get my camper van to the continent I want to explore? What if I need a way to meet new people who share my love of surfing and tricked out hydraulics?
The facts: The Truck Surf Hotel is a truck equipped with a hydraulic system that transforms the vehicle into a double decker hotel on wheels. Owners and trip guide/surf coach Daniela Carneiro and Eduardo Ribeiro transport guests to uncrowded beaches and natural parks each day, and the parked hotel provides the amenity-rich overnight accommodations.
The Truck Surf Hotel books for individuals, couples, and groups in Portugal and Morocco, offering three packages: Surf Experience, Guided Surf, and Adventure Experience. One private room with a double bed is available in addition to four shared bunk rooms. Accommodations also include a shared kitchen, living space, and bathroom for use by all guests with prices starting at approximately $760 a week. For those looking for a different kind of surfing experience during the high season in Portugal, this traveling hotel concept is as unique as it gets.
We spend a lot of time searching for unique places to hang out, work from, and sometimes even stay for weeks at a time. We search for places that align with our values and the things we care about. Most importantly, we search for places that simply make us feel at home, and hope that they’ll do the same for you.
In the heart of New York City lies a sanctuary-like boutique hotel called Public. As you walk past the outdoor garden, and through the revolving doors, you’ll immediately feel the attention to design sensibility. You’ll head up that Instagram worthy escalator and be greeted in the lobby by the friendly staff. However, the check-in process is run by technology, not humans, which makes the experience even better so you can focus on enjoying the hotel instead of waiting in long lines.
This space is home to some of New York City’s creative professionals who spend their days working away on their laptops here. As you can derive from the name, it's a space made for everyone. A lot of events at the intersection of fashion, design, and technology are held here, the food is incredible, the vibe is on point, and is located in the Lower East Side makes it easy to get to. Don’t forget about the rooftop bar. You won’t regret it.
Public was designed by world-renowned hotelier, Ian Schrager, who shares a vision of providing luxury for all. Schrager is an avid believer that upscale lifestyles don’t need to be just for the wealthy, and we couldn’t agree more. Every part of the hotel truly makes you feel like you’re in a luxury home, but not in a pretentious way. In a familiar, welcoming way that honestly just makes you feel good. Our team respects the vision for the PUBLIC Hotel and supports it however we can. It’s one of our favorite spots in the city and people like Schrager continue to inspire us every day. It’s the feeling we want to bring into people’s homes.
We started Slash because we believe in the idea of creativity through comfort.
As modern culture shifts, we see the home playing an important role in self-expression. From the furniture we have to the art on our walls.
At Slash, we value freedom, personal comfort, and creating spaces that reflect who we are. To us, creating anything exceptional starts with the setting your in. Finding a state of true comfort is a challenge we all face when we move into a new space. We exist to make it easier.
We envision a world where anyone has the ability to move to a new city with ease, yet feel a sense of belonging when they arrive. Where people are inspired to create and freely share with one another.
Lisbon, Portugal remains one of the best culinary experiences in Europe. Located along a major harbor its coastal cuisine is inspired by all the unique visitors.
Today, Lisbon has become a haven for young people who want to indulge in good food, wine, and the occasional mezcal without breaking the bank. The warm weather and charming streets (to which San Francisco definitely took a page from their playbook) make Lisbon difficult to leave, but the most captivating part of the city is by far the people.
Greeted by smiles and a genuine sense of welcome at every local cafe, pub or corner. While the people of Lisbon are facing serious threats of gentrification they have been far from bitter and instead wonderfully accommodating to the many visitors from around the world.
If you dodge the cars crossing a narrow street in Santos, a part of the city described as the "Brooklyn of Lisbon" you'll find one such gem. Named after the local market that preceded it decades ago, Boavida serves locally grown fresh meals that are an Instagrammer's dream.
Talk about getting comfortable in a cafe. On a business trip for Slash I stayed at an Airbnb around the corner and jet-lagged as I was I stumbled upon this spot on my way home from a scenic city stroll. It just opened and was quiet, besides the two gentlemen preparing the coffee machine and local produce there was no-one else there. Immediately welcomed to the bar and offered a fresh cup of Americano and a plate of the day, which was a scrambled egg with mushroom and leaves of which I've never heard before but tasted delicious.
I propped down at a seat near the entrance, plugged in my laptop and synced up to the WiFi. Voila! I had nothing else to need. Slowly more people stumbled in as I did and enjoyed their meals with friends, colleagues, and family while I typed away and took my meeting a couple of hours later.
I felt comfortable here. I was productive, well-fed and I came back many times.
As you might know, we design and build high-quality furniture, and want to make comfort accessible for all.
Since our launch, we've learned that when you get a new bed the chances are you’d like a fresh new mattress as well to fit perfectly within it.
So...we set out to find a mattress company that aligned with our standards of quality and service while ensuring you received the highest quality of comfort. Basically, we slept a lot. For a good reason though!
As a result, we’re happy to announce that we've partnered with Emma, one of the top European mattress companies to bring you the best mattress-in-a-box we could possibly offer.
Emma’s memory foam mattress has been developed by experts to provide you with ideal comfort and support. Check out the mattress at here.
We hope you enjoy it! Feel free to reach out to our team if you have any questions at email@example.com. Always here to help.

The fact is, better furniture doesn’t have to cost more. That’s why we created Slash. By building direct relationships with our suppliers and customers from the start, we eliminate all the extra costs associated with inefficient and unnecessary markups. We make designer quality products more accessible and affordable for everyone.
As we began to dive into the idea of Slash, we began to see all the flaws in the industry. The system by which furniture is designed, made, and sold is long overdue for a major change. Traditional brands have a lot of markups built into their retail pricing; like distribution costs, wholesale to retail markups, and shelf stocking. And YOU, the customer, end up covering the cost of these additional markups. That’s ridiculous! We felt there could be a better way.

At Slash, we put people first. We’re creating a new kind of customer relationship by being in direct, two-way communication with the people who buy our products and the people who make it as well. The whole Slash organization is built around customer feedback, as we grow a community of people who believe everyone deserves better.
